Our Learn-to-Skate programs are designed to teach fundamental skating skills to people of all ages.
Most learn-to-skate programs are offered year-round at our rink.

JUNIOR ACADEMY
.Jr Academy is a 2-day commitment focusing on the advanced skating skills for the purpose of moving to STAR/Competitive Development programs. Competitive Base Coaches will lead the program while monitoring and tracker skater advancements. The Technical Director will be part of the instructor’s team on a regular basis to monitor progress.

STAR 1-10 PROGRAMS
There is an optional off ice component with this program offered once per week. Figure skates are mandatory for this program.
Skaters interested in Figure Skating and moving beyond CanSkate can transition to the Group STAR or Jr. Academy program.
COMPETITIVE
The competitive program at Hamilton Skating Club is unique to most. It is not solely based on what level an athlete skates but more on their dedication to becoming a competitive athlete.

Quinn has also been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Toller Cranston Award for demonstrating courage, creativity, and expressive spirit in their skating.
This award is selected by the Canadian Olympic Foundation and Skate Canada.

U6, U7, U8, U9 Hockey Pre-Season Tune-Up
Get your young player ready to hit the ice this fall with confidence and speed! Our 4-Week Hockey Tune-Up is designed specifically for U6–U9 athletes to sharpen their skating skills before the season kicks off.
Led by certified coaches, this program focuses on the most important skill in hockey — skating. Through fun, structured sessions, players will work on balance, stride, edge control, stopping, turning, and agility — all key to becoming a stronger, more confident skater.

CanSkate & Teen/Adult Pre-Season Tune-Up
Get a head start on the season with our 4-Week CanSkate & Teen/Adult Tune-Up! This short, skill-focused program is perfect for skaters looking to refresh their basics and sharpen their technique before the fall session begins.
Whether you're returning after a break or just want to build confidence on the ice, our certified coaches will guide skaters through fun, structured lessons that reinforce balance, control, and agility — all in a safe and supportive environment. This CanSkate program is for skaters ages 5-12 years old. The Teen/Adult program is for skaters 13 years of age and older.

HSC SUMMER SIZZLE 2025
The first week of summer programs has started, and we are excited to see everyone back tomorrow after celebrating Canada Day! Registration for HSC Summer Sizzle 2025, August 18th 5:30pm-8:30pm, is now open!
