1. Purpose
To protect the privacy, safety, and well-being of all skaters and members, the Hamilton Skating Club (HSC) has established the following guidelines for the use of cell phones and mobile devices. This policy supports a safe, respectful, and professional training environment for everyone and is aligned with Safe Sport principles, ensuring all participants feel secure and respected.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all members, coaches, volunteers, and visitors while at HSC facilities, including training sessions, events, and on-site activities.
3. Policy
Change Room Privacy
- The use of cell phones, cameras, and other mobile devices with recording capabilities (voice, still images, or video) is strictly prohibited in locker rooms and changing areas.
- Devices must be turned off in these spaces.
On-Ice Usage
- Mobile devices are not to be used on the ice during training sessions.
- Club coaches may use devices for video capture for training purposes only.
-Personal devices are prohibited on the ice in accordance with this policy.
This update aligns with HSC's commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional training environment, consistent with Safe Sport principles.
4. Violation Handling
Verbal Warning
- For a first minor violation, a verbal warning will be given by a coach or HSC Board member.
- The warning will explain the policy and expected behavior.
Written Warning
- If a second violation occurs, a written warning will be issued to the member and/or parent/guardian.
- The written warning will document the nature of the violation, date, and required corrective action.
Final Steps
- Repeated violations or serious breaches of privacy may result in:
- Suspension from training sessions
- Temporary or permanent removal from club events.
- Escalation to the HSC Board of Directors for further action
- All final actions will be documented and communicated in writing.
5. Enforcement
- Coaches and HSC Board members are responsible for monitoring compliance during sessions.
- Members are expected to report any concerns regarding mobile device misuse to a coach or HSC
Board member immediately.
- This policy is enforced in alignment with Safe Sport principles to ensure the safety and well-being
of all participants.
- HSC reserves the right to update this policy as needed to maintain a safe and respectful
environment.
6. Acknowledgment
All members, parents/guardians, and staff are expected to read and acknowledge this policy. Continued participation in HSC activities constitutes acceptance of these rules and adherence to Safe Sport standards.
